Hybrid cloud computing is now the norm, with multicloud computing experiencing an uptick in adoption, as a result. Cloud security is non-negotiable and we’re on a mission to make it easier with the latest multicloud security update from Juniper Connected Security.

Like science, information technology sometimes advances through disruptive innovation. And while most of the excitement and hype occurs when leaps and bounds like this are made, it is instead the steady, cumulative progress of maintaining and extending the capabilities of existing products that actually offers organizations the stability they need to operate.

Juniper’s latest multicloud security update brings several incremental updates to our security portfolio. These updates implement customer-requested features that deserve some attention of their own.

What’s New

The latest multicloud security update brings HSM VPN support using the Microsoft Azure Key Vault services to the Virtual SRX (vSRX) firewall version 3.0. This allows for the establishment of PKI-based tunnels using native Azure key management, instead of key management local to the vSRX instance.

vSRX 3.0 also receives an update to its resource management capabilities, called Elastic Mode. This provides the vSRX with the flexibility to automatically adjust its resource consumption, allowing organizations to deploy as much (or as little) vSRX capacity as they require.

As there are significant enhancements available only to vSRX 3.0 customers, the multicloud security update also comes with a new procedure to migrate vSRX 2.0 to vSRX 3.0, simplifying migration for existing customers and demonstrating Juniper Networks’ ongoing dedication to ease of use.

In addition, the Containerized SRX (cSRX) firewall now offers logging (syslog and rtlog) equivalent to its larger cousin, the vSRX. The cSRX is the first – and most capable – enterprise containerized firewall. Each feature is obsessively refined to keep the cSRX’s footprint small, the instantiation time as low as possible and the resource demands in line with what one would expect from containerized network functions.

Together, the vSRX and cSRX offer organizations the ability to defend any workload, on any infrastructure. Secure multicloud computing isn’t a dream for the future, it’s a reality delivered today by Juniper Connected Security.

This multicloud security update is an example of exactly the kind of incremental product evolution required to achieve a Threat-Aware Network. By constantly evolving in order to deepen interconnectivity, we’re enabling customers defend against new threats as they emerge.

The Juniper Connected Security strategy provides organizations a path towards building the type of networks required to meet the information security challenges of the next decade. To truly achieve a Threat-Aware Network, deep network visibility and the ability to enforce policy at every connection point throughout the network is required. See, automate and protect with Juniper Connected Security.
